Memories can be shared with the family at under Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Bedford.

Ina Lou Marshall was born June 19, 1928, in Rodman, Iowa the daughter of Fay Leslie Shafar and Naomi Ellen (Hedrick) Shafar. At the age of six, her family moved to Taylor County where they farmed around the Bedford area. She graduated from Bedford High School with the Class of 1947. She then took normal training in Maryville, teaching rural school for about a year. She met Bob Marshall upon his return to Bedford after serving in World War II and the couple was united in marriage on January 14, 1950, at the Baptist Parsonage in Bedford. To this loving union four daughters were born to bless their lives, Deborah, LouAnn, Karen and Nancy.

In 1966, after Nancy started Kindergarten, Ina Lou was employed by the Bedford School as a cook, a position she held for over 27 years, retiring in 1993. Ina Lou also sold AVON for over 35 years and also helped Pam Brown at 'Just Country & Things'. Her husband Robert passed away in March of 1998.

Ina Lou had been a member of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, the American Legion Auxiliary where she was a Gold Star Sister. She had also been active in numerous coffee and neighborhood clubs. She enjoyed camping, bowling, coffee and card clubs . . . . not necessarily in that order! Ina Lou also crocheted and knitted, having made over 800 baby hats for newborns! She was 'spunky' and 'feisty' and always willing to let you know what was on her mind. Her family was her pride and joy with a special spot for her grandchildren.

Left to cherish the memories of a wonderful mother, grandmother and, friend are her four daughters, Deborah Marshall of Essex, Iowa; LouAnn Pavao and husband Michael of Worcester, Massachusetts; Karen Cape and husband Michael of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; and Nancy Cox and husband Neal of Bedford, Iowa; one brother, Edward Shafar of Newton, Kansas; three sisters, Francis Dalton of Lenox, Iowa; Bette Priest of Emmetsburg, Iowa; and Mary Utsler of Leesburg, Florida; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; along with many other family relatives and friends.

Preceding Ina Lou in death are her parents, Fay and Naomi Shafar; her loving husband Robert in 1998; four brothers, Robert Shafar, Roy Hypes, George Hypes and Richard Shafar; and three sisters, Leola Ferkins, Mildred Smith, and Hazel Dorrel.

Ina Lou was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Her enthusiasm, humor, insight and wit will be missed by everyone.
