Duane Verl Stuvick was born November 28, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska to Edwin Stuvick and Julia (Sullivan) Stuvick. He grew up in Omaha and attended Omaha Schools. On November 28, 1954, Duane was united in marriage to Charlene Howard. Three children were born to this union, Suzie, Pattie and Dan. On October 3, 1987, he was united in marriage to Sherry Parker Alexander.

At a young age, Duane worked for Barber & Sons of Omaha as a mason. He then started his own business of Stuvick Construction as a cement contractor located in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He continued this business for over 40 years before retiring. Duane was a very hard worker and took a lot of pride in his work.

Raising German Shepherd dogs was a favorite pastime of Duane’s. He belonged to an Omaha Kennel Club and the Council Bluffs Kennel club. Horses were another of Duane’s passions and enjoyment. At the age of 17, he worked at a stable to buy his first horse and has had horses since 1970. He and the whole family enjoyed many trail rides throughout many states, including the River City Round Up trail ride with the Ak Sar Ben Rodeo. His team of ponies brought much joy to Duane and many others for over 25 years when they would participate in parades in Texas, Missouri and other states. The Grandkids especially loved the ponies and the parades.

Preceding Duane in death are his parents; brothers, Bernard, Virgil, Willard, Verlin and Lowell; sisters, Phyllis (Mickey), and Shirley Roller; father-in-law, Keith Parker; life time friend and buddy, John Fagan.
