Gloria Grace Goff Haffner was born November 11, 1932 in Clarinda Iowa. She was one of four siblings, and the only girl born to Newell and Grace Goff. Gloria graduated the 8th grade from Clarinda. At the early age of 16 years, she married the love of her life, Carl “Junior” Haffner in Columbus Ohio. To this union, nine children were born: Carl “Skeeter”, Terry, Gary, Bobby, Donnie, Teddy, Karen, Sherry, Timmy.

Being raised with three brothers was a fun challenge she often reminisced about. Being boys as boys do, her brothers often teased her by taking her baby dolls, sometimes even cutting off the doll’s hair. Gloria had a natural gift of being passionate. Her brothers meant alot to her, it was important to her to provide meals, especially during the holidays, for the entire family.

Amongst raising a baseball team of their own, many neighborhood children and school friends gathered at the Haffner home as it was known as the “local hangout”. The kids enjoyed seeing the uncommon household pets, such as racoons, squirrels, owls, pigeons, skunks, pigs, among many others. Nurturing the stray animals was just as important to Gloria as raising all of the children.

Gloria was adamant that her children were instilled with her beliefs and love for Jesus and made it a priority on Sundays to attend church. She was always proud to have all of her children in church with her. On Mother’s Day, she was often recognized for bringing the most children. In their free time, Carl & Gloria enjoyed doing woodworking, camping, bowling, and traveling to Branson, Missouri. Gloria was employed as a caretaker in numerous positions around the community. She spent time in the Clarinda School District and local nursing homes. Upon retirement, she chose to love on her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her favorite phrase was, “None of my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were ever spoiled, they were only loved.”

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Newell and Grace Goff, her siblings, Bob Goff, Jim Goff, her husband Carl “Junior” Haffner, her sons, Carl “Skeeter” Haffner, Teddy Haffner, grandson, Kevin Haffner, and great granddaughter, Lexi Stiles.

She is survived by her brother, Ronnie Goff of Red Oak, Iowa; her children Terry Haffner (Lori) of Clarinda, IA, Gary Haffner of Clarinda, IA, Bob Haffner (Carol) of Clarinda, IA, Don Haffner (Kim) of Clarinda, IA, Karen Schramm (Virgil) of Clarinda, IA, Sherry Wesbrook (Jerry) of Garwin, IA, Tim Haffner (Brenda) of Clarinda, IA, 22 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren.
