Kay Jones, age 78, of Independence, Missouri, formerly of Clarinda, Iowa entered into peace Friday, March 1, 2019 at her residence in Independence. Graveside Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 12:00 PM at Braddyville Cemetery, Braddyville, Iowa. Visitation will be held Saturday at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the family greeting friends. Interment will be held at the Braddyville Cemetery in Braddyville, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Kay Jones memorial. Kay Lea Jones was born January 12, 1941 in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph McClarnon and Wilma (Stiverson) McClarnon. She grew up in the Braddyville area and graduated from Braddyville High School in 1959. On August 9, 1959, she was united in marriage in Hopkins, Missouri to Jerry Jones, her high school sweetheart. They were blessed with three children, Kathy, Mary and Paul.

Kay’s working career included working at Montgomery Wards in Kansas City, Missouri, administrator of the Sheltered Workshop in Higginsville, Missouri. In 1988, she began working at Walmart in Liberty, Missouri and retired from there in 2006. Following their retirement, Jerry and Kay moved to Clarinda in 2007.

Kay was an active member of the New Life Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Quilt Club. Kay enjoyed all forms of sewing including crocheting, embroidering and doing crafts. She also enjoyed playing cards, fishing and bird watching. Her family was her top priority and she especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and cooking for her family. Her homemade noodles will always be remembered.

Preceding Kay in death are her parents; husband, Jerry Jones (12/11/2015); granddaughter, Kaili Jones; brother, Russell McClarnon.

Left to cherish Kay’s memory are her children, Kathy (Alan) Keen of Independence, Missouri, Mary (Sarah) Jones of Olathe, Kansas, and Paul (Shelly) Jones of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Tisha Foster, Jarrin Jones, Carter Jones and Elizabeth Jones; great granddaughter, Aundrea Gilbert; brother, Bill McClarnon of Castle Rock, Colorado; sister, Ramona (Sonny) Zeiler of Independence, Missouri; sister-in-law, Karan Pool of Clarinda, Iowa; nieces; nephews and many friends.
